Simple and quick: My two favorite words! And they both come together in this flower bottle tutorial!
I was wandering around IKEA recently and a couple of adorable bottles hopped into my cart. OK, so I helped them a little bit, but they were destined to come home with me. The bottles were a bit plain, so I jazzed them up a bit with some paint.
To be honest I feel guilty calling this a tutorial, simply because it is so easy. You will only have to invest about 5 minutes of hands-on time before you are holding your completed flower bottle. Add some beautiful faux or fresh-picked flowers, and you have a pop of color that brings freshness into your living space.
GATHER YOUR MATERIALS: One Ikea Korken bottle, Martha Stewart Multi Purpose Satin Craft Paint in Wedding Cake (I bought mine at Michael’s), Painter’s Tape, Foam Brush
This floral bottle is so simple to make that I can sum it up in one step.
STEP ONE (AND ONLY):
Wrap your painter’s tape around the bottle at the spot you want your paint to stop. Add a coat or two of paint to your bottle (let it dry!). Take off your tape when the bottle is almost dry. Let dry completely.
That’s it. You are done. You can now add flowers.
Like I said, this flower bottle how-to is too simple to really call it a tutorial. So let’s call it a DIY. If you are anything like me, you LOVE fast and easy DIY’s! It is great to sit down to craft and end up with a finished product in a few minutes. The bonus is that this one is inexpensive too.
A trio of these bottles with daisies would be cute in a windowsill!
Just a thought: How about making several of these and then stopping by the flower store for some lovely fresh flowers (tulips, perhaps?), plopping them in the bottles, and then delivering those bottles to your friends. I am pretty sure you would earn some awesome friend-points, and well as bring some smiles to your friend’s days.
The only effort it takes is for you to sit down and relax and get your craft on!
