FARMHOUSE BEDROOM MAKEOVER PLAN
A bedroom makeover is in my very near future! Considering the fact that my room is presently sporting baby-poop colored walls, this need to happen! The walls were this color when I moved in and I dislike the color tremendously. I also think that the dark color makes the room feel like a cave. This is the one room in the house I have done nothing in. No pictures on the wall, no window coverings, no nothing.
My bedroom is tiny…just a bit bigger than 10″ X 10″…but I believe in working with what I have. My furniture is large (my previously bedroom was very spacious, but this is my “single-gal” bedroom) and it will be staying as well. Again, I am using what I have as only a budget makeover is possible.
To be honest, my room is so small that it is hard to photograph! I hope you can get the feel of what I am working with by looking at these pictures.
But I do not let that stop me. My plan is to create a very comfortable and stylish bedroom for $250 or less.
My farmhouse bedroom makeover is going to focus on three areas: PAINT, BED COVERINGS AND WALL DECOR.
The Paint Plan:
My walls are going to lighten and brighten up. At this point, I am planning on going white with a very light grey tint for my walls. The baseboards need a refresh and they will be painted bright white. The closet is a metal door, but it is in good condition, so I will be painting it bright white as well and adding new pulls. A new closet door would be nice, but unless it finds its way into my $250 budget, I am sticking with what I have.
The Bed Covering Plan:
I am torn on this one. Navy Blue is calling my name in a big way, and it will match very nicely with an upcoming bathroom update (look for this in early fall!). Coral or pink would be a great coordinating color.
Turquoise has also snuck into my choices. Darker than aqua, but lighter than a typical turquoise is where my mind is headed. I think it would look great with beige buffalo-check window coverings.
I need to choose prior to picking paint since I do not want to have grey tinted walls and beige window coverings. As soon as I decide I will let you know!
The Wall Decor Plan:
I will certainly add a mirror on one of my walls to reflect some bright light into my room. This makes a room look larger. A wood sign will go behind my bed, but I am still undecided about what quote I want. A friend just gave me a vintage window, so that will make its way to my walls, I am sure. Other than that I am not sure. The decor will take shape as I go along!
I will keep you updated on my progress on my farmhouse bedroom makeover on IG as well as FB. Input is always helpful, so I will be asking for opinions!
Have a lovely day!
Turquoise is nice and would keep a more airy feel. Navy, however, is such a grounding and rich color that could create a really peaceful place to rest.
Can not wait to see what you choose. The baby poop walls deserve to be retired!!
Lol, Pam! I agree about the walls!
All of your options sound nice, I can’t wait to see what you do. I’m sure it will be beautiful!

I am looking forward to getting to work on the room a bit more. So far I have painted and I LOVE the lighter walls! Now I get to shop and find decor items…this is the fun part! 🙂

Can’t wait to see it. And you have fabulous natural lighting in there. That’s always a plus. Good luck!
Your color direction sounds like it will be a very restful room and will become a retreat for you.
A restful retreat…I like that!
Randi 🙂
The room sounds as if it will offer much peace and harmony.
I really look forward to the completed bedroom. Enjoy creating a place of restful relaxation.
Randi I don’t know if you’ve gone bed-cover shopping yet but I’m all for the navy blue and coral combo! And I’m glad you’re too broke to replace the closet metal doors because I LOVE them – they have so much detail with the moulding and the vents – I think they’re fabulous. I’m so excited for you – can’t wait to see your progress on this room. xx
I love your room Randi it is so light and airy
