LET ME SHOW YOU MY NEW OFFICE/CRAFT SPACE
One of the things that I insist upon since I work at home is a pretty and functional work space. I find myself more relaxed and motivated when my surroundings make me happy.
Recently I moved into a small 1,000 square foot home, downsizing from over 3,200 square feet.  It has been a challenge to make my 10′ X 10′ room function well.  My new craft space/office is about 25% of the size I had in my larger house, but I was determined to make every inch count.  And I have to say honestly that I could not be happier with the results!
Let’s walk through my office makeover!
My guy had a couple of days off of work last week, so we took the time to finish my office space.  We planked the wall and built a gorgeous wood-topped desk.  My space is still tiny, but I have 2 walls full of shelves.  We also fit in a computer space, as well as a large table space to use for working on projects.
***Please note that these pictures show one long wood table/desk along one wall. Â Because of the size of the room it is very hard to take a picture of the whole thing!
My dining room table will no longer be filled with in-process wood signs. The kitchen island won’t be covered with chalk paint and nail guns anymore.
This “messes give me anxiety” girl is very excited about all of this! Â Everything now has a space and everything will be in it’s space!
One of my older daughters is one of those “I create best in a mess” types and I just don’t know how she does it. Â For me, I need organization to relax and get creative. Â A chaotic work space just makes me want to go somewhere else!
Since I am in such a small space I need to make sure that I am not collecting an abundance of craft supplies. Â Of course, that is good for the bank account as well. Â Admittedly it is a challenge for me since the best part of making a project is planning it and buying supplies!
Are you with me on that?
I am so glad you stopped by today so I could show you my office makeover. Â It is definitely my favorite space in my little house!
Have a lovely day!
Very nice space and lots of light for images. Thank you for sharing on Merry Monday! Have a great week!
Kim
Thank you, Kim! I hope you have a great day!
Your office/craft space looks so clean, uncluttered, and well-organized. Kudos to you and your helper for the job on the plank wall and the desk. It all looks great!
Thank you, Carol! I appreciate your kind words!
Looks like you did a great job with your small space!
Thank you, Roseann!
That looks great! Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
Thank you, Sherry!
Wow, I totally need this in my spare room. I have a desk and an old sewing cabinet. I’m thinking about scrapping them both and building a long corner unit that will extend the out 8′ along 2 walls. Computer space and project space. Like you I need one space to do the majority of my projects and not have to use the dining table.
What wood did you use for the top? It’s thick and beautiful!
Hi Toni,
I LOVE my workspace because I can make a big ol’ mess and when I am done I can shut the door and leave it behind. I was using the dining room table also, and I was getting tired of feeling like everything was spread out so much (the dining table mess tended to spread to the kitchen and living room as well since they are all connected!).
We used 1 X 12 pine boards (very affordable!) and there is a 1 X 2 piece that is nailed all across the front edge to hide everything going on underneath. When I am going to do something messy (paint or glue) I just put a large trash bag underneath what I am doing and it keeps the table top looking good.
If you want some extra pics to see how it’s put together, let me know.
Have a lovely day,
Randi 🙂
