  1. Do you have a favorite type or brand of paint to use on furniture? I’ve got an old drop leaf sewing table that is in need of a refresh.

    1. Hi Heather,

For chalk paint I always use Rustoleum…but I will say that the colors are limited. Other than that I generally use a coat of primer and then a basic latex paint. I have used Valspar, Behr and Sherwin-Williams and have never had a problem yet. I think the best way to start it to clean your piece up well, and then fill any holes/big scratches with Wood Filler (I use one called Plastic Wood). Prime and paint as needed.

Please feel free to email me or message me on FB if you need more help. I would love to see a pic of the sewing table!

      Have a lovely day,

  2. Beautiful pieces Randi! I know what you mean about the colored pieces taking longer to sell though. I had that same problem when I first got my space at the antique mall, it took FOR.EVER for colored pieces to sell. I finally gave in and started painting everything white. I guess people just have a hard time envisioning anything but white in their homes.

I just wanted to make one suggestion… totally not related to this post at all… it’s about your subscriber popup. Can you make it delay a little before it pops up? When I come to your blog before I’ve even had a chance to scroll down to see the post I’m interested in it pops up and as a reader my first instinct is to close it so I can see what I originally came to see. I find that I don’t even read what the incentive to sign up is… I just want it to move so I can see the post! ha ha! You might have a higher conversion rate if people can see your beautiful pictures first… then they know they like what they see and when that pop up comes up they are more likely to read it and then sign up!!

I think I have mine set to 45 seconds. Just a thought :o)

  4. These look GREAT! Have you ever checked out Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint? A bit pricey, but no primer needed! I’m just starting with it for a few personal projects.

Would LOVE if you’d share your post at my first ever Reader Tip Tuesday link up party: http://www.jodiefitz.com/2017/08/01/reader-tip-tuesday-along-new-food-craft-party/

  5. As per usual I love them all! I’m not afraid to use color, but my family often balks if I do. (Once I painted a bench beige-beige!-and my kids had a fit!) I love chalk paint and whites as well. Thanks so much for sharing with us over at Vintage Charm:)

In the table and chairs picture…Did you refinish the table top? If so what did you use? I would be interested in your process too!
