One of the things that I insist upon since I work at home is a pretty and functional work space. I find myself more relaxed and motivated when my surroundings make me happy. Recently I moved into a small 1,000 square foot home, downsizing from over 3,200 square feet. It has been a challenge to make my 10′ X 10′ room function well. My new craft space/office is about 25% of the size I had in my larger house, but I was determined to make every inch count. And I have to say honestly that I could not be happier with… Read More
Gingham is such happy print, don’t you think? Whether it’s tiny checks on fabric or buffalo checks on a pillow, I love the look of it all. If you want to switch things up at your house, maybe it’s time to add some gingham home decor! I re-did a set of kitchen chairs recently and added gingham on the seats, but I sold them. Lucky for me I have a set of barstools that are getting that same treatment this weekend and they will not leave my house. Two of them will be in my kitchen, and the remaining two… Read More

I have a crush on Gingham! Especially if it’s black and white! I came across these farmhouse kitchen chairs at a yard sale and I knew they would be painted black, and the seats covered with black and white gingham. I am glad to know my initial design idea was perfect for the set! The chairs drew me in with their size and shape. They are nice and large, and I love the the shape of the backs. I was very happy to discover they were sturdy as well, and the $10 price on the set was the last straw…they hopped… Read More
Is it planting time yet where you live? Here in Colorado not much will survive outside until after Mother’s Day, so I am only in the planning stages. This year I will be doing only container gardening, so making planters is on my to-do list. The elevated planter and the square planter will be happening for sure. Let me show you some of my favorite DIY wood planter tutorials! ***1oo Things 2 Do made these wonderful privacy planters, and I think they would look great lining a side yard that meets up with the neighbor’s yard. Not only do they look… Read More

Spring is here and that means new babies! It seems like they are in the air! This month for our Maker’s Year project I will be showing you how to make a baby blanket. This one is light-weight and perfect for warmer weather. Baby stays snuggled, but does not get too hot. To be a part of The Maker’s Year simply sign… Read More
Let me fill you in on a little secret: I am one of “those” bacon lovers! I love it by itself. Added to recipes it’s perfect. I love it on it’s own. Wrapped around other foods always improves those foods. Did I mention that I love it independent of other foods? Yes, I did! One of my favorite spring-time recipes is Spinach and Bacon Salad. It is loaded with good things like spinach and mushrooms and onions. Paired with yumminess in the form of parmesan cheese and bacon, this one is a keeper. This salad is both salty and sweet, and I… Read More
