LET’S TALK ABOUT MY DINING TABLE CHAIRS

Let’s talk about my dining table chairs, shall we?

It’s taken me a while to get them done.  Have you noticed that?  Or have I sufficiently covered it up?

I have a little character trait that causes me problems sometimes and it’s called “procrastination”.  Or is it called “fear”?  And can the word “fear” legitimately be applied to dining table chairs?

For me, it can.

Those chairs have been staring at me, asking to be painted.  Yes, they did ask!  But I kept saying “no”.

So every night before dinner we have rounded up chairs from around the house so that we could use the new table.  Because, you KNOW we are not going to eat on my new couch anymore, right?

My daughter has asked when I was going to paint the chairs.  Friends have even asked.  And I just kept answering “soon”.

As you can here, I tried painting them with a brush first.  SO SLOW!:

But something broke one day last week. I realized I was afraid.  Of what, you ask?

Doing something wrong?  Messing up the chairs?  Wrecking the paint sprayer?  Creating a painting catastrophe of epic proportions?

Now it all seems silly.  I just went out to the garage, pulled out the sprayer, read the instructions (gasp!) and painted the darn chairs.  And they look great. Plus it was really easy.

I bought the chairs for $2.00 a piece at a yard sale, and now they are looking just fine in my dining space.

Imagine that!

My family is glad that we are no longer rounding up chairs before every meal.  And I like that my house actually looks fully furnished.

So, that darn fear.

I have struggled with this all of my life.  And it’s led to a lot of chances not taken, and opportunities not being seized.  And I am kind of done with it.  Sure, it may have taken me one full month to finally break through and paint those dining table chairs.  But I did it.

And now I can effectively use a paint sprayer.

All of those yard sale pieces collecting dust in my garage had better watch out, because here I come!  Paint sprayer in hand, and fear cast to the wayside.
