IT’S THE LITTLE THINGS: AN UPDATE
One thing I have found in fixing up my little house is that it’s the little things.
Oftentimes there is no need for a massive overhaul and spending lots of money. Taking a look at a space and dreaming of ideas and then picking your most important ones is all that is needed.
Now, I would love to paint the outside of my house, build a pergola in the backyard and add a porch to the front. If you take a moment to add up the cost of that little list of mine, you will see that it’s gonna be a while before I can make those changes (I am on a budget, just like you!).
That does not mean, however, that I can’t add some little touches like a newly planted tree and some outdoor furniture (I am thinking that I can build something….but that will be a post for next spring!).
For now I have added a little touch of happiness in my living room. It’s a small one and it only cost me $12 (thanks to my Hobby Lobby coupon!), but I am quite happy with it.
My living room is cozy (read as “small”) and I know that I could easily overwhelm the space with decor. Curtains have been running around in my mind lately, but I feel that for now I want to leave my window space open and uncluttered. So I set out to find something to fill the wall space above my window.
Here is my “before” picture:
At first I thought that a flower garland would do the trick, but I didn’t want to add any color to my seafoam-colored walls.
When I came across this sign I knew it would be perfect. Long and skinny with a perfect sentiment: Let all that you do be done in love.
And it happens to fit perfectly in the small spot above the window, don’t you think?
I love it, so curtains are again on the backburner. Honestly I don’t think that I need them. Which is great because I can use that money for something else to brighten up my house.
It’s the little things, remember?
Have a lovely day, friends!
