2017: SO MANY POSSIBILITIES
2017 is only a few days away! And there are already so many possibilities!
I will admit that I have a thing for new beginnings. As an adult I have found that they are pretty exciting, even if they are not what you thought you wanted. Change can be scary, but life offers frequent opportunities to reinvent yourself, and I revel in that on a weekly basis.
Monday is my second favorite day of the week, and it’s only beaten out by Friday for obvious reasons. I love looking at a new week, full of promise. If last week was a failure on the “get it done” scale, this week will be different. Got a dirty house? By the end of the week it’s going to be under control. Want to achieve a new goal? Good or bad, Monday will always be my starting day.
New day, new week, new month, new year.
A chance to start again and do it better this time.
Several years ago I became a single woman for the second time in my life just a day or two before the new year. It was such a horrible way to end a year, but there was something about starting over on January 1st, that added a glimmer of hope to the sadness and pain. Somehow with 365 days stretched out before me, I knew that I could accomplish something new.
And goodness knows I needed NEW!
This upcoming year is an exciting one too. I don’t have any reason to feel like this year needs to end, so that is a huge plus. Going from a reasonably good year on a personal level into another brand new year, makes me feel like more goodness is going to come my way.
She is clothed with strength and dignity, and laughs without fear of the future. Proverbs 31:25
There it is. My way of looking at life as a whole. This year will hold good and bad. I want to walk into it knowing that God has me and my life in every way. HE won’t drop the ball or be surprised at anything that life brings me. I might do those things, but HE won’t. And for me, that is a comforting thought and makes all of those possibilities seem exciting.
My hope is that this New Year’s Eve offers you hope and a feeling of excitement for 2017. No matter what your life looks like today (good or bad), chances are that 2017 is going to be an adventure…a good one!
Happy New Year!
