DRESSER TO CONSOLE FLIP
OK, I had to buy it! Last summer I drove up to a yard sale right as they were cleaning things up and I bought this piece for $5! There was just something about the shape and the lines of this one that demanded that I take it home.
I love the look of a dresser with the drawers removed to add storage space! Lucky for me this one was simple to do since the drawer space was flat with no tracks or indentations. Normally I would have had to add a shelf to make things work right.
Personally I think this will work great as a console type piece or as a buffet in the kitchen. It’s a cute place to keep extra dishes and serving pieces when company comes over.
This was my beginning:
As you can see the color had to go! It was painted an ugly red/brick/brown that was outdated and ugly. The drawer pulls were a “no” for me too. I suppose they have the mid-century mod look, but I wanted a different look altogether.
Sanding this took a while because of so many coats of paint previously applied, but once it was cleaned off I knew the finished piece would be cute.
I happened to have the old wood box in my garage and it fit great in one of the spaces. Wire baskets would also be fun, but I wanted to add the quilts on one side for some texture. Decorating with fabric is something that I love to do. Plus it makes it easy to store all of the quilts I have made!
This dresser to console flip will be sold, although I would have loved to keep it. My house is small enough that I have to be very picky about what I keep and what I get rid of. I admittedly miss the days of living in a huge house when something cute like this furniture makeover comes along!
Have a happy day!
