HOW I FIND TIME TO DIY IN MY BUSY SCHEDULE
People tell me all the time that they wish they could find the time to “make”! I always tell them that the time is there, but you have to find it.
Let’s talk about ways to find time to DIY!
Our lives are made up of our priorities played out in the everyday.
Our use of time speaks to what is important in our life. Take a long, hard look at your routine and my guess is that there are a lot of wasted minutes in the form of social media, TV, and just general milling about.
ADD DIY TIME TO YOUR DAILY PLANNER
Yes, get it on the schedule! DIY not only gets your creativity flowing, but it also saves you money. I try to weigh whether I have more money or more time, and generally time always wins out! This means that I will spend “time” to get what I want.
15 MINUTES A DAY
You will be surprised at how much you can accomplish by doing a task for 15 minutes a day. After one full week you will have spent one hour and 45 minutes to getting the job done. And for a lot of DIY jobs, that is enough to finish or at least make a large dent in your project.
BURN THE MIDNIGHT OIL
This is one of my favorite ways to make time since it means that everyone around me is in bed, and I can have uninterrupted time to stay on task.
I love that! My mind works best when I can stay focused on what I am doing. Too many interruptions generally leads to me feeling frustrated.
WEEKENDS ARE YOUR FRIEND
Weekends are set aside for rest and fun, so this may seem a bit daunting. DIYing is actually quite relaxing and it can lead to that feeling of actually taking care of “you”! And we all know that is a great feeling which only leads to us being better people.
GATHER YOUR FRIENDS
Getting together with the girls is a perfect way to find time to DIY! You will create something fun and get inspired, and you will also find that working with your girls is better than therapy! Whenever I have creative time with friends I feel like we solve the problems of the world and we each leave feeling like we can do this life of ours. It is a double blessing, for sure!
If getting creative is something you want to pursue, you need to find time to DIY. Adding this to your day not only helps you to feel great, but it generates cute and fun projects for your home.
What about you? What are your favorite tips to find time to DIY? I would love to hear them!
Have a great day!
