WHAT CAN A GIRL DO WITH RECLAIMED FENCING AND GREENERY?
My little kitchen got a little refresh! It was so simple and inexpensive. Which of course means that I love it!
Above my cabinets, there is a small shelf and I have wanted to fill it in with some decorative items. There is a pile of old fencing in my garage and it provided my answer.
Reclaimed fencing became boxes:
I made these boxes quickly and I am quite happy with the rustic look of them. Wood gains so much character and texture as it ages.
Right now I am going to fill you in on a little secret! The boxes have no bottom. There was really no need and I wanted these to be done fast. If I want to use them in the future for storage I can easily add a bottom.

Add greenery:
I have another secret for you! I used my trick of using a few faux flowers to create an abundant look. It is so simple and easy and useful if you ask me. I just filled the box with wadded up paper and filled in the flowers where I wanted them. As you can see the flowers are in the front and the paper fills the back:
The boxes were free since the wood was free to me. The greenery cost me $10 since is was 50% off at Hobby Lobby.
Thrifty, budget-friendly projects are my favorite. Why spend a bunch of money when I can get the look I want for almost nothing?
For now, my kitchen is done. A new, lighter colored countertop would be great, but I have other home projects in mind right now.
Redoing my house has become a bit of an addiction to me. It’s fun and I love the satisfaction of a job done. I am in the middle of my bedroom makeover and I hope to post my reveal next Monday. It is coming out great and I love the new, fresh look of my space!
Have a lovely day!
