MY (TINY) FARMHOUSE BEDROOM MAKEOVER
When I started my Farmhouse Bedroom Makeover I had no idea it was going to take me so long to get it done! It seems like that is the way it goes: either you go over budget with time or money. Since I have more time than I do money, going over with time works for me!
My budget was $250.00. I purposed not to go over that amount, no matter what. Many of the items that I made came from things I have lying around my garage and craft room. Always remember that successful DIYing starts with being creative with what you already have.
This was my starting point in my tiny 10″ X 10″ bedroom:
My favorite part of this whole transformation is the walls. I had two baby-poop colored walls when I moved in. In a room measuring approximately 10′ X 10′ that color created an even smaller feel to the space….plus it was just straight-up ugly.
I chose Behr’s SUBTLE TOUCH (Paint and Primer In One) to lighten up those walls. It is a lovely soft gray that does not overwhelm the room in any way. Since my room is so small I was able to get it done with one gallon of paint…just barely! I am serious when I say that I eeked out every last drop from the can to make it happen!
My color scheme for the room is Navy Blue and Coral/Pink. I wanted the Navy since it seems fitting to change colors with the seasons, and the coral/pink brightens things up very nicely.
Two windows that were sitting in my garage transformed into mirrors. This is not only for looks, but to reflect a bit more light into my small, dimly-lit bedroom. Mirrors are a great way to add light, and light appears to make things bigger.
A piece of old fencing became a Wall Mounted Hook Rack, and I was inspired by Seeking Lavender Lane’s wreaths to add some pretty details. Both of these items were quite simple and quick to make, and YOU KNOW that I love simple and quick!
I have a crush on pillows. They are such a perfect way to add color, print, and texture to a space. A Navy Blue Gingham curtain was made into pillows shams and I love how they bring more of the Navy into my room.
An on-clearance Shower Curtain changed into window curtains along with some lovely blue ribbon for hanging on the rod. I went with white simply because I did not want to overwhelm the space with too much color. The room is too small for that!
Here is a breakdown of how much money I spent on my farmhouse bedroom makeover:
