HOW TO MAKE A SIMPLE EMBROIDERY HOOP WREATH
When it came to figuring out what to add over my bed during my bedroom makeover, I was a bit stumped. My bedroom is small so I did not want to overwhelm the space with something large and heavy.
Lucky for me I came across Deb’s tutorial for making an embroidery hoop wreath, and I knew I was onto something. Not only are the wreaths pretty, but they are inexpensive too. Add to that the simplicity in making them and I was sold!
Pretty + inexpensive + simple = DIY perfection!
Gather your materials:
- Embroidery Hoops (any size works)
- Stain
- Faux Flowers (I like to buy mine at Michael’s or Hobby Lobby)
- Glue Gun
- String, Twine or Ribbon for hanging the hoop
How to make an embroidery hoop wreath:
STEP ONE: Take your hoops apart and stain the hoop using a small piece of an old t-shirt. Let the stain dry for at least several hours.
STEP TWO: Reconnect your hoop and tighten it up with the screw.
STEP THREE: Before gluing the flowers to the hoop I suggest playing around a bit with placement. Flower arranging is not in my skill set and I always feel very inept when I try to do this. I will admit that I pulled off several leaves and flowers before I got the look I wanted. Don’t be afraid to play around and take your time with this!
Glue your leaves and flowers to the hoop as desired.
STEP FOUR: Tie some string, twine or ribbon to the hoop for hanging.
You are done! Wasn’t that simple?
Now I am going to be the first to say that I do not think my floral hoops came out perfect BUT they work. They add color and charm to my bedroom, and that was my goal. Also, now I know how to make an embroidery hoop wreath!
Always remember that when you sit down to make a craft, do not try for perfection especially if the project is outside of your skill set. Seek to learn new things, and enjoy the process.
