SPRING CLEANING CHECKLIST AND TIPS
Hello, Friends!
Can you even believe we are thinking about spring cleaning?
And can I be honest and say that I dislike spring cleaning? I am definitely one of those “surface-y” cleaners. I love my house to be nice and neat, but deep-cleaning is not my favorite thing. Once I year I have to change that and go for it like everyone else!
I have created a SPRING CLEANING CHECKLIST to help you streamline this process. It can be found in my Resource Library and you can sign up to receive the password at the bottom of this post.
Getting into spring cleaning mode requires a change of mindset for me. Here are my best tips!
If you want more coaching and encouragement in getting your cleaning process in order, check out my Cleaning Guide! It is full of great ideas, direction, and worksheets. Plus is addresses daily, monthly, seasonal cleaning and cleaning with kids.
Break It Up:
My tendency is to mow through projects and get them done, but the list of things-to-do is overwhelming. I like to break the list down over one month and get it done a little bit each weekend. Spring cleaning requires some big time-consuming jobs, but also offers some quick ones. Breaking it up lets it all get done without too much frustration on my part.
Hire Someone To Help:
I am lucky enough to have an 11-year old neighbor who loves to earn money! He will be called on during the month to help in a number of simple areas which frees me up to hit the larger, more challenging jobs.
Trade Work With A Friend:
This is something that I did often when my kids were younger. Spend one full day at a friend’s house working through her to-do list, and then have her over the next week to work on yours. Yes, it is more work, but the kids will keep each other busy and the company will make the time go faster.
Get Your Kids In On The Action:
Yes, let your kids help. They will probably not do as good of a job as you, but you will be teaching them important life skills. They will learn to take part in home maintenance and you will be able to check something off the list. This is a win on both sides!
Spring cleaning is a lot of work, but it does not have to be a dreaded job. With a little planning and some help, you will be done before you know it!
