THE COFFEE TABLE FLIP THAT DID NOT GO AS PLANNED
Happy day to you all! And thank you for stopping by!
This week is all about Flipping Furniture with my friends!
A while ago I came across this coffee table in a Facebook Buy/Sell/Trade group. It was a bit overpriced (for my taste) so I messaged the seller and told them I would take it off their hands at a cheaper price if no one else was interested. And so it became mine.
Numerous ideas floated through my head including adding a Lego base on the top, but since I have no Lego playing kids, I kept on thinking.
Wallpaper seems to be all the rage lately, but I have to admit that I am not a fan of it on walls. Way too much pattern for me.
But I do love the prints so I decided to give wallpapering a table a try.
Can I just say honestly that I really dislike how this came out?
Not my style at all and it is just plain ugly, in my opinion.
But I do feel really strongly that DIY is all about trying new things and seeing what happens. So this is one of those times where “yuck” happens.

I chose a beautiful paper off of Etsy and I used Rustoleum Chalk Paints in Aged Gray and Charcoal to paint the table. I had initially meant to go with the Aged Gray only, but the color was too light to add contrast to the gray in the wallpaper. An extra coat of Charcoal darkened the table, but I don’t really like how the paint job turned out.
But I do know how to work with wallpaper now. It was a pretty simple application process and I LOVE the selection of products in this little shop! It took me forever to narrow my choice down since their selection is so perfect!
So, what is in store for this little table? It will sit in my garage until I get up the nerve to toss it.
And hopefully, the next item I flip will have some of the good lessons I learned about flipping this one…such as not adding wallpaper to the top of a coffee table!
