PRACTICAL AND PRETTY EASY DIY HOME DECOR
Cheap And Easy DIY Home Decor Projects
“How can I decorate my home on a budget?” That is the #1 question I hear from people!
And I am going to answer it for you!
The best way to decorate your house on a budget is with easy DIY projects for your home! Yes, there are other ways to save money decorating, but making things is a great way to achieve your desired style without spending a ton of money.
You get to pick out the DIY tutorial AND you can customize it to your liking. Paint color is always a great way to change up the look of a DIY project.
Isn’t this “to the moon and back” sign adorable? All you would need to do is to use a colored stain (aqua!) or change the paint color to get an entirely different look.
Having wood quote signs around my home is a way of letting people know what we are about and what we think is important. They are easy to personalize with a stencil you purchase or design and cut with a vinyl-cutting machine.

A table centerpiece is a perfect idea for adding a pop of color in your living space. This one is made with beer bottles and fake flowers. Be sure to buy your flowers at Hobby Lobby or when they have a 50% off sale (usually at least once a month).
Pink bottle with yellow flowers? Or white bottles with white flowers? Both will be adorable and creative!
You really can’t get any more simple than a can of spray paint. Plus this is a super affordable project!

DIY Home Projects For Beginners
These DIY wood lanterns were made for a wedding, but I think they would be perfect in a Farmhouse style living room! And believe it or not, the tutorial is good for beginners.
Aren’t they cute in a set for a centerpiece?

Shelves are a great way to use up some wall space. They are not only nice looking but functional as well. These turnbuckle shelves are creative as well as funky and I love the added hooks on the sides. Great visual interest!

I am always down for a good chalkboard. They can be used for writing out your grocery list or for drawing out a beautiful quote in cursive lettering. Either way, they add to the rustic, farmhouse style in your home.
And did you know you can use chalk paint in a color to create a chalkboard? Yes, you can make a pink or green writing surface. Cute idea, don’t you think?

Decorative DIY Ideas For The Home
Figuring out your home decor style can take some time. One of the best ways is to start a Pinterest board and simply pin the pictures that you like. After a while, you will start noticing that a pattern emerges. You might notice that you are drawn to dark colors or a neutral palette. Or you may notice that you favor rustic over modern.
This provides you with a good starting point for decorating. You can gather items or tutorials that fit into that decor scheme that you like.
When it comes to choosing colors for home accessories, pick a couple (or a few) that coordinate and work well together. Gathering paint chips in the colors you like (even though they are for matching decor items rather than paint) will help you when you are shopping or scrolling Pinterest. I do suggest that you stick with your colors or your finished room will be all over the place. Keep in mind that it is not expensive to change out colors with new wall hangings or throw pillows. You do not need to add every color you like in one shot!
I like to encourage people to decorate in a way that makes your home “you”! Rather than following trends, you should be shooting for a look that makes you happy. That way your home will always feel like HOME!

The following projects are beginner-friendly and they pack a big statement in your home decor. There are many ways to personalize these such as paint color and size. I think the house number planter is a great project to start with and if you use faux flowers you can change out the colors according to seasons or holidays.
And that rug? Make it smaller for the bathroom or larger for a living area. It is all up to you!

I am going to suggest that you pick one tutorial to make for your home. Read the instructions, buy the supplies and DO IT!
Yes, you will create some projects that end up on a shelf in the garage…or the trash. I am embarrassed to admit how recently a project was a failure! About a month ago I was redoing some chairs and they are now housed in my shed because I was not careful enough with the clear coat. There are drips all over the set. Another reason I should have been wearing my glasses, I suppose!
Just do not give up when a project goes south. Use it as a tool to learn what to do better the next time.
Attempting easy DIY projects for your home will help you to begin to grow your skills and you will start recognizing a style that is all yours. And ultimately those are our goals, right?
