OUTDOOR FARMHOUSE CHRISTMAS DECORATING IDEAS
BEST DIY FARMHOUSE OUTDOOR CHRISTMAS DECOR
Christmas decorating time is upon us! While most of us are focused on our living rooms and Christmas trees, there are those of us who love to decorate outside. I have gathered some amazing outdoor farmhouse Christmas decorating ideas and I think you are going to love them!
When thinking about decorating outdoors it is good to brainstorm and figure out where you want to focus. The house? The front porch? The walkway?
Of course, you can pick one spot or you can pick them all. Personally, I think it is fun to go all in like Clark Griswold and do everything! I do not think it is possible to be too festive.
To be honest I would love to have a front porch. But I do not. If I did it would be decorated year-round and especially at Christmas.
The first few links I am showing you are either from Front Porch Reveals or Christmas Home Tours. I wanted to give you an idea of what an overall decorating scheme can look like.
If you scroll down you will find lots of awesome easy outdoor Christmas decorating ideas and DIYs. Some are easy and some are cheap to make. All are adorable and doable.
New to DIY? I encourage you to pick a project and try it. Everyone is a beginner at some point and every project (even if it does not turn out well) teaches valuable lessons for future projects.
Let’s look at some Christmas goodness!
I am in love with how On Sutton Place used the twinkly lights on those trees and the olive buckets holding them. Plus she makes great use of the color red:
Everything here works for me. I love how Beauty For Ashes went with subdued tones to match her front door. The vintage truck pillow, the sled, and the metal buckets are so perfect:
The black front door plus the greenery work so well for me! Craftberry Bush always comes up with beautiful decor ideas. And those lanterns…:
Isn’t it cute how this ladder decorated by Ribbons and Glue mimics a Christmas tree? It almost makes me want to go with a ladder tree inside my house, but I would hate to miss out on our annual tree cutting day:
This is such a cute entryway on so many levels. Liz Marie’s grey door is perfect. Add the pops of red and metal buckets and the sled…I simply love it!:

EASY OUTDOOR CHRISTMAS DECORATING IDEAS
When it comes to decorating outdoors, you may have to employ a bit more than a glue gun and some ribbon. Often a project will call for wood and power tools but I want to encourage you to go for it.
While power tools can be a bit scary at first, simply knowing how to use them safely keeps you from hurting yourself. It took me a long time to get used to using my table saw, but now I am pretty proficient at it. But I will say that I always use it pretty methodically because I like to make sure everything is in the right place before the blade starts spinning.
If you are unused to creating projects with items like wood and PVC pipe you can take a little field trip to Home Depot and look around to see what is available. The people that work there are very helpful and are used to DIYers. In other words, do not be afraid to ask for help.
When it comes to deciding on colors for your Farmhouse Christmas Decor be sure to pay attention to the colors on your house. I happen to live in a barn red house so painting my projects red is probably a bad idea if I want them to stand out. Going with green is a better option for me because I like the contrast.
Contrasting colors allow individual pieces to stand out and be seen. If your color palette is too tight nothing stands out. White is always a great backdrop that allows items to stand out and shine.

CHEAP DIY OUTDOOR CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS
Popular Christmas Decor materials are buffalo checks, galvanized metal, burlap, and wood. You will find that these items all mix well and look great together. Also, they have the benefit of being inexpensive to work with.
When it comes to fabric I like to look for curtains or tablecloths and cut them up as needed. If you can find them on the cheap they provide a ton of fabric at a great price. Whenever I use black buffalo checks these curtains do the trick.
Hobby Lobby is great for galvanized metal and also for pre-cut wood pieces. Be sure to wait until they have a 40 or 50% off sale before you buy. That is one of my tricks for on the cheap crafting and DIYing! Buy on sale or not at all. Check Hobby Lobby for burlap as well. I am pretty sure they have it in ribbon form and by the yard.
Are you starting to see some of these projects are doable? I sure hope so.
Get ready for your cutest Christmas season yet!

I love the amount of cuteness in this post. My favorites are the Sharpie sign, the $10 sled, and the lighted stars. My hope is that you found something to make for your own home this Christmas!
