KITCHEN REMODEL ON A BUDGET
KITCHEN REMODEL DIY
Do you have a kitchen that you want to remodel on a budget? Well, you are in the right place!
Several years ago I remodeled my own kitchen in my small house. The walls were painted dark green, the backsplash was yellow and the sink faucet was just really old and ugly.
So I set about to make some design changes.
My budget was very small (under $200) but I did everything I needed to do to make the space look great!
My biggest expense was the paint. I am going to point out that in any remodeling situation, paint makes a huge difference on your walls and it is quite affordable. You can completely change the tone in a room by adding a different color to your walls.
You are going to find a TON of great ideas for remodeling your kitchen on a budget in this post as well as great information for getting the job done! The links have great tutorials, advice, and specific budgets for the projects. Some start and $200 and they go up from there. Of course, some of these remodeling projects may be out of your price range, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find inspiration in the completed kitchen!

REMODEL A KITCHEN ON A BUDGET
The first thing you will want to determine before you remodel your kitchen is how much money you have to spend.
Take the time to write everything down that you want to redo in the kitchen. Everything single thing.
You may not get around to doing all of it, but at least you have a starting point.
It is up to whether you want to hire a contractor or go the DIY route. We both know that the more you DIY, the more money you will save (which might lead to getting everything on your list done!
Now take the time to price it all out. Get bids for work from local contractors. Or go to Home Depot and write down the materials you think you will need for your projects. Be sure to add a bit of cushion so that you don’t go over budget (I like to add 15%, just in case).
One of the good things about the links I am sharing today is that they are loaded with great advice, tutorials, and design ideas. Many of them walk you from the beginning to the end of the remodeling process. And many of them have kitchen remodel before and after pictures (that is always a plus for me!).

IDEAS FOR KITCHEN REMODEL ON A BUDGET
Let me just say that the picture below is my absolute favorite! How happy is that kitchen???
I would have to be in it cooking all the time! I’m thinking that baking cookies and muffins would be the obvious choice in such cuteness!
When it comes to planning your kitchen remodel DIY, you get to design it however you want!
Isn’t that amazing?
Don’t be overwhelmed by all of the choices. I have some tips below for zeroing in on a plan of your own.
Choose the colors you want, the textures you want, and the accessories you want.
Having a kitchen that really speaks to your true style will make you want to be in it more!
If your budget is extra small, do the projects that are most important to you and that will have the most dramatic impact.
Again, paint is a great starting point. It can transform a drab dark space into something inviting and full of light.
Paint not only transforms your walls, but it can also transform your cabinets and your kitchen island. I have painted my bathroom cabinets (without sanding) and they still look great over one year later.

If you click over to that tutorial you will see that I also added a wood countertop in my bathroom. This project was easy and it has held up great for the year also. You can find a tutorial by searching Pinterest.
One idea that I use often to figure out what I want a space to look like is to start a board on Pinterest. Start collecting pictures of kitchens that you like along with accessories and paint colors (search Design Seeds on Pinterest for color inspiration).
After a while, you will notice a pattern in the pictures and projects you are pinning. You will notice a style emerging.
This is your starting point in figuring out your own design for your own kitchen remodel.
Browsing Home Depot, home decor stores, and even discount stores will provide you will even more ideas. Take pictures with your phone and make a folder for all of your thoughts.
This is your jumping-off point.
Now the fun begins!

Remodeling a kitchen on a budget is not impossible. All it takes is some imagination and the willingness to work. Start with small projects and work your way up to the more difficult ones.
And don’t feel like you have to get it all done right away. Some remodeling projects take months or even years to complete.
But if you start now, you are that much closer to the kitchen of your dreams!
