DIY LEMON SUGAR SCRUB RECIPE
HOW TO MAKE SUGAR SCRUB
At least once a year I make up a big batch of my sugar scrub recipe, divide it into cute jars and give it to my friends because I love them. It is a quick a simple way to create something for friends that they will actually use…not put away in the closet!
This sugar scrub recipe is for the hands and it can also be used on the legs. The benefits of using it are exfoliated skin that feels oh-so-soft and smells great!
The fun thing about making homemade sugar scrub is that you can scent it any way you like. All you need is the essential oil that you love.
Choose from lemon, peppermint, lavender, grapefruit (LOVE this one!), and rosemary. You can even combine scents to make something totally unique.
The recipe I am sharing today is basic and only uses 3 basic ingredients. Feel free to add to it to make it your own. Some good ideas are adding dried lavender, rosemary sprigs, or lemon zest. Mix in a small amount at a time to see how much you want in your recipe. Do not add so much of one ingredient that it takes over or gives your sugar scrub an odd texture. Once you add too much, there is no going back!

One fun thing about making a DIY sugar scrub for your friends is that you get to personalize it to their taste. Once you know what they love, you can make up a batch that you know they will use.
And their clean, soft hands will thank you for it!
LEMON SUGAR SCRUB
I tend to wander towards citrus scents when making scrubs or soaps. It is such a clean, fresh scent and most people love it.
Back when I sold soap online, my favorite type to make (and my best seller) was pink grapefruit and this recipe lends itself perfectly to that! But for this tutorial, I am using lemon essential oil.
The fresh scent lends itself well for use in the kitchen and after working in the garden.
All you need to do it to run some warm water over your hands and rub a small amount (1-2 teaspoons) of the scrub all over the hands and then rinse. Your hands will seriously feel wonderfully clean, soft and they will smell great!
Be sure not to give all of the sugar scrub away…keep some for yourself!

Your sugar scrub will last on the shelf with a lid on for 6 months. Just to be sure, you can smell it prior to each use. You will be able to smell when it is going bad. But to be honest, it won’t last long enough to go bad!
Lemon sugar scrub not only makes your hands feel and smell great, but it also exfoliates dead skin and unclogs pores. Plus the oil in the sugar scrub moisturizes the skin as well.
