MAKE A SIMPLE AND PRETTY DIY SPRING WREATH
DIY WREATH FOR SPRING
DIY Wreaths are the perfect way to roll into a new season!
They can bring fresh, new color to your space, and they always say “welcome” to people who come your way.
One of the best things about making a DIY Spring Wreath is that they are generally simple and inexpensive to make. And you can tailor the added flowers to the colors of your home decor to refresh it a bit.
All around, a wreath is a great handmade project!

One of my best “girl’s craft nights” was when I had several girlfriends over to make wreaths. As always, we laughed, cried, and solved the problems of the world, and we all came out with a pretty wreath. It was fun to see how each person’s personality was woven into what they made. We all have our own styles and we like certain looks, and I love that aspect of crafting together…seeing what everyone comes up with. My style may not be yours or vice versa, but when we create, it is all beautiful.
DIY wreaths are even good for those “non-crafty” types because they are so easy to make. And my tendency is to think that those types of people have simply never crafted.
Be sure to invite your “non-crafting” friends to join in the fun! Most of my friends who have said they can’t make things have turned out to be quite adventurous with making and they inspire me to learn new skills!

Let’s gather our supplies:
- White Twisted Wreath
- Flocked Lamb’s Ears
- Lavender Spray
- Wire Cutters
- Glue Gun
- Buffalo Check Ribbon (I like using wired ribbon)
I bought most of my supplies at Hobby Lobby. They have an amazing selection of faux flowers and greenery and they are always my first choice for crafting supplies!
And when it comes to shopping there, I ALWAYS wait for the things I want to go on sale. I do this by planning out what I want to do over a month and then shopping when my items are either 40 or 50% off. The only way I buy regular price at Hobby Lobby is if I am desperate to get the goods.
Check out my blog post HOW TO SAVE MONEY WITH THE HOBBY LOBBY SALE CYCLE AND COUPON. And keep in mind that their 40% off coupon can always be used on one regular-priced item. When my kids were little I gave each of them cash and coupon and sent them through the line to buy stuff. Just a little tip for saving money!
I absolutely LOVE the wreath I choose. Not only because I love the look, but it was so simple to tuck all of my flowers and greenery into it and get the look I liked and then proceed to glue it all in without removing the pieces first. It seriously made the wreath so simple to make!
Of course, you can choose another type of wreath if you like, but keep in mind that you might need to glue your floral and greenery pieces in one by one. Not a big deal, but especially with grapevine wreaths, you have to do that.
You can also tailor the wreath to your personal look by adding colors and flowers and greenery that you like. This tutorial is only a springboard for you getting creative and doing it your way!
Let’s get to making!
STEP ONE: Use your wire cutters to cut the stems off of your floral and greenery picks. Be sure not to cut them too short as once you do it, there is no going back. It is better to cut them a little longer than you think you need and trim more later.
STEP TWO: Stick the stems into your wreath to create the look you want. Spend some time moving things around until you like what you see. When you are 100% satisfied you can move forward.
STEP THREE: Using your glue gun, glue the pieces in place. You do not need to remove them to do this. Simply lift them a bit and tack them down with glue. This part is so easy!
STEP FOUR: Fashion your bow in any way you like. Wire ribbon makes this so doable! And again, take some time to create a bow that you like. The wire makes it simple to shape the bow and undo it and do it again. One little trick is to use floral wire in the middle to keep the bow in place without twisting it.
STEP FIVE: Using your glue gun, attach the bow to your liking.
STEP SIX: If you need/want to, go back and add extra glue to each piece to keep them securely attached. That way they don’t fall off at some point.
You are done with your DIY wreath! How fun and easy was that?
