BEAUTIFUL FARMHOUSE KITCHEN DECORATING IDEAS
FARMHOUSE KITCHEN IDEAS ON A BUDGET
I just love a farmhouse kitchen, don’t you? The rustic look of a kitchen just makes me want to bake bread or squeezed some lemons for lemonade.
Honestly, I love the home-y feel of any kitchen. For me, the kitchen is the life of my home and I tend to spend a lot of time there. And since my home is open concept, my visitors can join me while I cook. When my kids were younger we all gathered at the kitchen island for school work and projects. That space was central to our life as a family.
One thing that I LOVE about farmhouse style is that it is so simple to achieve it on a budget. Of course, this is done by making a lot of DIY projects, but if you are ready to build your skills and create your dream kitchen, you can certainly get the look you want!
Another way to get that adorable farmhouse look you want is to shop at yard sales and thrift stores for your decor items. You will be surprised at what you can buy for next to nothing. AND if you take your imagination shopping, you are sure to find some goods that can be painted or trimmed perfectly for your decorating style!

Farmhouse kitchen decor has quite a range of design styles. You can find traditional, modern, french country, cottage decor, and more! Personally, I tend to stick with traditional and cottage styles. That gives me the white and neutral background that I love (traditional) with pops of color added in (cottage).
For me, color is a necessary part of my decorating as it adds fun and charm to my home. And what I love about keeping a neutral background is that it is very simple to change my color in a room without spending a lot of money since I only change out a few decor pieces to change the look of a space.
These kitchens in this section show a more neutral look, which is a more traditional style for farmhouse kitchens. It is a very clean, airy look that lends itself to spending a lot of time within it.
Most of them have a lot of white elements with wood accents, which is a key feature of farmhouse style. As you will notice, you can mix light and dark wood tones with a lot of success. You do not have to get too caught up in making it all match!

FARMHOUSE KITCHEN DECOR IDEAS
This set of farmhouse kitchen styles showcases a more colorful look. Whether you add color to your cabinets or your flooring, you are making a statement that says “look at me!”.
You are going to notice that painting upper and lower cabinets a different color really works! To be honest, when I first noticed this a couple of years ago I was not a fan. But now I love it!
Painting them two sets of different colors allows each color to stand out and keeps one color from dominating the whole space. And I think that works well, especially when you want to add additional colors to the kitchen.
If you keep both sets of cabinets the same color, you can paint the kitchen island with another color. In my kitchen, my cabinets are black and the island is stained wood. I love that the island stands out so well in the small space. Plus it keeps the black cabinets from taking over the entire living space since my kitchen, dining area, and living room are connected.
I love black, but I do not want black to be the feature color in my home.

Well, did you find anything that you love in these farmhouse kitchen decorating ideas? Are you motivated to start redoing your own kitchen?
One thing that will really help you get the ball rolling when it comes to choosing your look is to start a design or inspiration board. All you need to do is to start a Pinterest board and start pinning to it. You will be surprised at how quickly a “look” emerges for you.
Often you will first notice a color theme. If you are pinning it, you like it!
Once you have your colors picked out, start pinning items like wood tones, flooring options, and decor elements like texture (think ticking fabric as stuff like that). It won’t be long before you are ready to start planning your farmhouse kitchen project!
When it comes to remodeling or redecorating your kitchen, be sure to come up with a workable budget. I always take the time to write down all of the projects I want to accomplish over a period of time and then I break those down into steps. This helps when I go to Home Depot to price things out.
Another tip is to add about 15% to the budget in money as well as in time. Most of the time I can keep within the financial budget, but things always take longer than I think they will. It helps to be mentally prepared for that!
My biggest tip? Just start. Start dreaming and planning and making it happen. If you don’t, you will always just be wishing for a different kitchen.
And since the kitchen is truly the heart of the home, you need to make a space you love to retreat to.
