FARMHOUSE STYLE PILLOWS: A TUTORIAL
Hello, Friends! Today I am sharing a fun little tutorial for Farmhouse Style Pillows.
These are quick and simple to put together. If you are just starting out with sewing, this project is great for you. If you have more experience, this is gonna be a cinch!
This is actually a two-part tutorial: an inside ENVELOPE STYLE PILLOW COVER, and an outside TIE-ON PILLOW COVER. You will need to buy a pillow insert, but those are easy to find at your local fabric or craft store.
To get the “Farmhouse” look, you can use a more traditional or natural-looking fabric like pillow ticking, osnaburg or muslin. Check the home decor section at the fabric store for great prints like damask and gingham.
If you want to make these your way, choose a modern fabric as long as it’s a medium-weight quilting cotton or a light-weight home decor fabric. Stretch fabrics will not work well, and thicker fabrics will be tough to sew with the thick seams.
Since the top cover is removable, these make for easy washing. Rather than repeatedly putting them in the dryer, I suggest line-drying and ironing.
These tutorials have a picture for almost every step, so all you have to do is follow along to make Farmhouse Style Pillows. If you have questions or get stuck, you can certainly email me and I will do my best to answer your questions.
If you make pillows from these tutorials I would love to see pictures! You can post pictures in the comments section or on FB, or post on IG and tag me.
